Who we are
ESRS was founded in Cairo in December 2024 by senior surgeons from Cairo University and the National Cancer Institute, working in urology, general surgery, surgical oncology and gynaecology.
The society brings together everyone who works in robotic surgery: consultants and trainees, theatre nurses, anaesthetists, biomedical engineers and robotic coordinators. Its work covers training, research, shared outcomes and scientific exchange.
Vision and mission
Our vision
Safe, high-quality robotic surgery available to patients across Egypt, delivered by surgeons and teams trained to international standards.
Our mission
- Train surgeons and theatre teams to recognised standards, from the simulator to independent practice.
- Build a national registry so that every centre learns from the outcomes of others.
- Bring Egyptian and international experts together through an annual congress, workshops and lectures.
- Connect surgeons, hospitals and industry around safe adoption of new robotic platforms.

Read moreA word from the founder
Robotic surgery is reshaping how we operate, and Egypt has the surgeons, the centres and the ambition to lead this change in the region. We founded the Egyptian Society for Robotic Surgery to give this community a professional home across every specialty: training to recognised standards, a national registry so that we learn from every case, and one meeting place for surgeons, centres and industry. I invite every surgeon who shares this goal to join us.
Governance
The society is run by its founding board of directors. The by-laws will be published here once they are approved.
